Hello Swimmers –

The 2024 Longest Day Swim is here…we hope you’re looking forward to this exciting challenge on the River Corrib!!

Below is some key information about the event:

  • – Registration is at Dangan Pavilion at the University of Galway (DANGAN MAP) from 12:45 until 14:00
  • – Car parking for swimmers should be in the general open car park (parking at the Pavilion is for race organisers).
  • – The finish point for the event is the slipway next to the Commercial Boat Club, near Woodquay (COMMERCIAL BOAT CLUB MAP).

  • – At Registration you will be asked to confirm your entry details and will be issued with your race number and timing tag.
  • – Bags for personal belongings will be available at registration and your “goodie bag” for the event will also be available!
  • – The briefing for the swim will be at 14:15 – all swimmers must be present for the briefing as key safety information will be presented.
  • – A van will take personal belongings to the finish point – the van will leave Dangan at approx. 14:30.
  • – For 4k swimmers there will be a bus available from approx. 14:30 to take swimmers to Glenlo Abbey Hotel and Estates.
  • – For 2.5k swimmers you can walk to the start point from the Pavilion.
  • – The 4k race start is approx. 15:00pm. The start point is the pier at Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estates.
  • – The 2.5k race will start when the 4k swimmers pass – approx. 15:30. The start point is the slipway.
  • – At the race finish point there will be access to the Commercial Boat Club to pick up personal belongings/showers/change.
  • – A presentation ceremony will be held at the Commercial Boat Club at Approx. 17:15
  • – Speciality Pizza (voucher in “goodie bag”) and refreshments will be available at the Commercial Boat Club after the event – please stay and relax after your swim!!
