Hello Swimmers –

The 2025 Longest Day Swim is here…we hope you’re looking forward to this exciting challenge on the River Corrib!!

Below is some key information about the event:

Getting Here

  • All Swimmers will Check-in at Dangan Pavilion at University of Galway (DANGAN MAP)
  • Please use Carparks A & B (parking at the Pavilion is for race organisers).
  • The finish point for the event is the slipway next to the Commercial Boat Club, near Woodquay (COMMERCIAL BOAT CLUB MAP).

Registration Details

  • Registration is at Dangan Sports Pavilion at the University of Galway (DANGAN MAP) from 09:45 until 10:45 (for the 4k swimmers) and 10:15 until 11:15 (for the 2.5k swimmers)
  • At Registration you will be asked to confirm your entry details and will be issued with your race number and timing tag.
  • Bags for personal belongings will be available at registration and your “goodie bag” for the event will also be available!
  • A van will take personal belongings to the finish point – the van will leave Dangan at approx. 12:30.

4k Race Details

  • Registration is at Dangan Pavilion at the University of Galway (DANGAN MAP) from 09:45 until 10:45
  • The 4k swim safety briefing will be at 11:00 – all swimmers in the 4k event must be present for the briefing as key safety information will be presented.
  • A van will take personal belongings to the finish point – T-Shirts/FlipFops can be worn for bus trip to 4k start point and a van will be available to take these items back to the finish point – Swimmers should be changed and ready in togs/wetsuits prior to boarding bus.
  • Wetsuit Swimmers please take the first bus, skins swimmers will take the 2nd bus
  • The 4k race start is approx. 12:00pm. The start point is the pier at Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estates.

2.5k Race Details

  • Registration is at Dangan Pavilion at the University of Galway (DANGAN MAP) from 10:15 until 11:15
  • The 2.5k swim briefing will be at 11:30 – all swimmers in the 2.5k event must be present for the briefing as key safety information will be presented.
  • A van will take personal belongings to the finish point – the van will leave Dangan at approx. 12:30.
  • For 2.5k swimmers the start point is just a short walk from the Pavilion to the slipway.
  • The 2.5k race will start when the 4k swimmers pass – approx. 12:30. The start point is the slipway.

Race Finish, Pizza & Trophy Presentations

  • At the race finish point there will be access to the Commercial Boat Club to pick bags, changing rooms and showers.
  • A presentation of trophies for (1st, 2nd, 3rd) 2.5K, 4K, Skins, Wetsuit, Male & Female will be held at the Commercial Boat Club at approx. 14:15.
  • Magnetti’s Pizza will be available at the Commercial Boat Club after the event at approx. 14:00 – we encourage all swimmers to stay and relax after your swim!!

NEW: Bus Back to Dangan Sports Pavillion

  • Following the presentations in the boat house, a 48 seater bus will be available to bring swimmers back to their cars in Dangan Sports Pavillion
